Co-Sponsorships - Building Supportive Connections
Surviving trauma, especially for sexual assault survivors, is often a lonely journey. SSAA emphasizes community and connection as integral to the healing process, utilizing co-sponsorships to enhance supportive relationships.

1. What Are Co-Sponsorships?
Co-sponsorships consist of small groups of survivors who gather and connect to collaborate in an effort to work the 12 Steps of SSAA. These survivor-selected groups promote emotional safety and deep connections, allowing participants to share their emotional journeys with others who understand their experiences.
2. The Power of Connection
Feelings of isolation are common among survivors. Co-sponsorships create a safe space where survivors can express themselves, share insights, and encourage one another. Regular meetings foster accountability and camaraderie, reinforcing solidarity and healing within the group.
3. Tailored Exploration of the 12 Steps
Each survivor's recovery is unique, and co-sponsorships allow groups to adapt the 12 Steps to their specific experiences. This personalized approach facilitates deeper discussions and promotes personal growth as members navigate their trauma collectively.
4. Encouraging Growth Through Vulnerability
Sharing personal stories can be intimidating, but co-sponsorships cultivate an environment of trust and understanding. This vulnerability builds resilience, as members gain strength from witnessing each other's growth and challenges, often leading to lasting friendships.
5. Ask fellows to be your co-sponsor
Co-sponsorships in SSAA provide vital support through vulnerable sharing and empathetic listening. By forming small, nurturing groups, survivors share their journeys together, emphasizing that recovery is a collective endeavor filled with compassion and understanding. Through these connections, they prove that while the path to healing is hard, it can be traveled together. Reach out to your fellow survivors!
